The Council of Conservative Citizens (CCC) is a white supremacist organization that promotes [white nationalism](https://doctorparadox.net/save-democracy/right-wing-ideologies/white-nationalist-beliefs/) and opposes immigration and racial integration. The CCC was founded in 1985 by Gordon Baum, a former worker's compensation attorney who had been involved in the white supremacist movement for decades, and funded by wealthy right-wing figures including [[William Regnery II]]. The CCC's website states that its mission is to "fight for the interests of white Americans and to promote the survival of our people." The CCC has been linked to a number of [[hate crimes]] and acts of violence. In 1999, Dylann Roof, the perpetrator of the Charleston church shooting, was a member of the CCC. The CCC has also been criticized for its links to politicians, including former Sen. Trent Lott (R-Miss.) and former Rep. Robert Barr (R-Ga.). The CCC is a designated hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center and the Anti-Defamation League. The CCC's website has been banned by a number of major internet platforms, including [[Google]], [Facebook](https://doctorparadox.net/category/technology/facebook/), and [Twitter](https://doctorparadox.net/category/technology/twitter/).
