Midjourney is a [[generative AI]] application that generates images from prompts, similar in functionality to [[Dall-E 3]] and [[Stable Diffusion]]. Developed by San Francisco-based research lab Midjourney, Inc., the tool was first released in open beta on July 12, 2022. At the moment, Midjourney is only accessible through a Discord bot (update: see below for my impressions of the new web interface available to power users), but the company is working on a web interface. The previously available free trial has been temporarily closed due to high demand and abuse, and access to the tool now [requires a paid subscription](https://docs.midjourney.com/docs/plans) to one of the three usage tiers available, starting at $10 per month for the Basic Plan. ## Midjourney Alpha The new web-based interface for Midjourney is available to heavy users of the service -- currently you need to have created 1000 or more images in order to get into the alpha test. It is definitely a game changer in terms of unlocking the very best of what Midjourney has to offer -- [here are my first impressions](https://livemind.net/blog/midjourney-alpha-review.html). ## Example Midjourney images ### My creations - [[Joshua Tree at Night -- Midjourney]] - [[Fallout Rome -- Midjourney]] ### Midjourney Showcase ![[Rupert_Breheny_mechanical_dove_eca144e7-476d-4976-821d-a49c408e4f36_-_Midjourney_-_Wikipedia.jpg]] A glimpse at the recent [Midjourney showcase](https://www.midjourney.com/showcase/recent/): ![[Midjourney_Showcase.jpg]]
