Cliven Bundy is an American cattle rancher from Bunkerville, Nevada. He is best known for his role in the 2014 Bundy standoff, a confrontation between his supporters and law enforcement following a 21-year legal dispute in which the United States Bureau of Land Management (BLM) obtained court orders directing Bundy to pay over $1 million in withheld grazing fees for Bundy's use of federally-owned land adjacent to Bundy's ranch in southeastern Nevada. The standoff eventually led to a wider debate about public lands in the Western United States and the role of federal government. Bundy's actions were praised by some as a courageous stand against government overreach, while others criticized him for breaking the law and inciting a dangerous situation. In my opinion, the [[anti-government]] types are going to see almost any action by the federal government as an overreach -- even when it's the simple act of defending usage rights on public land legitimately owned by all of us. This land is your land, this land is my land -- and why should some armed gang full of toxic masculinity get to use my land for free, without giving anything back?! In 2016, Bundy was arrested by the [[FBI]] and indicted on 16 felony charges, including conspiracy, assault on a federal officer, and obstruction of justice. However, in 2018, a federal judge dismissed all charges against Bundy, his two sons, and a [[militia]] member due to prosecutorial misconduct.
