The book criticized then-presidential candidate John Kerry's military service during the [[Vietnam War]], and it played a significant role in the 2004 U.S. presidential campaign. In 2006, Corsi published "The Late Great USA: The Coming Merger with Mexico and Canada," which promoted the conspiracy theory of a secretive North American Union. His 2008 book, "The Obama Nation: Leftist Politics and the Cult of Personality," was a New York Times bestseller and criticized then-presidential candidate [[Barack Obama]]. Many critics dismissed the book as a collection of [conspiracy theories](https://doctorparadox.net/why-do-people-believe-conspiracy-theories/), misinformation, and innuendo. Corsi has written several other books on various topics, including "Where's the Birth Certificate?: The Case that Barack Obama is not Eligible to be President" (2011), which questioned Obama's eligibility for the presidency due to his birthplace (aka the [[birtherism]] conspiracy made popular by [[Donald Trump]]), and "Killing the Deep State: The Fight to Save President Trump" (2018), which claimed that a secretive "deep state" was trying to undermine the Trump administration. ## Controversies Throughout his career, Corsi has been involved in several controversies. He has been accused of promoting conspiracy theories, including the "Birther" conspiracy, which falsely claimed that President [[Barack Obama]] was not born in the United States. Corsi has also faced criticism for his associations with far-right websites and figures, such as InfoWars and [[Alex Jones]]. In 2018, Corsi became entangled in Special Counsel [[Robert Mueller]]'s investigation into [Russian interference in the 2016 U.S. presidential election](https://github.com/doctorparadox/historical-texts/tree/master/russia-investigations). Although Corsi was never charged with any crime, he claimed that he had rejected a plea deal offered by the Special Counsel's office.
