He is a retired United States Army Lieutenant General who served as the 24th U.S. National Security Advisor for the first 22 days of the [[Donald Trump]] administration. Flynn's military career included a key role in shaping U.S. counterterrorism strategy and dismantling insurgent networks in the Afghanistan and [[Iraq War]]s. He was given numerous combat arms, conventional, and special operations senior [[intelligence]] assignments, and became the 18th director of the Defense Intelligence Agency in July 2012 until his forced retirement from the military in August 2014 ([1](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Flynn)). After leaving the military, Flynn established Flynn Intel Group in October 2014, providing intelligence services for businesses and governments, including in Turkey. In December 2015, Flynn was paid $45,000 to deliver a speech in Moscow at the ten-year anniversary celebration of RT, a state-controlled Russian international television network, where he sat next to Russian president Vladimir Putin. In February 2016, Flynn became a national security advisor to Trump for his 2016 presidential campaign. He registered retroactively as a foreign agent under [FARA](https://doctorparadox.net/dictionaries/hybrid-warfare/foreign-agents-registration-act-fara/) in March 2017, acknowledging that he had conducted paid lobbying work in 2016 that may have benefited Turkey's government. On January 22, 2017, Flynn was sworn in as the National Security Advisor but resigned on February 13, 2017, after information surfaced that he had misled Vice President [[Mike Pence]] and others about the nature and content of his communications with Sergey Kislyak, the Russian ambassador to the United States. In December 2017, Flynn formalized a deal with Special Counsel Robert Mueller to plead guilty to a felony count of "willfully and knowingly" making false statements to the [[FBI]] about the Kislyak communications, and agreed to cooperate with the Special Counsel's investigation. However, he later moved to withdraw his guilty plea in January 2020, claiming government vindictiveness and breach of the plea agreement. The charges against Flynn were dropped at the direction of the Justice Department in May 2020, and he was issued a presidential pardon by Trump on November 25, 2020. Flynn pledged an oath to the pro-Trump [QAnon](https://doctorparadox.net/dictionaries/what-is-qanon/) [conspiracy theory](https://doctorparadox.net/why-do-people-believe-conspiracy-theories/) on July 4, 2020. In recent years, Flynn has continued to be involved in various controversial activities. In addition to embracing QAnon, Flynn has avidly promoted other false narratives about COVID-19. Flynn has also made claims on [[Alex Jones]]'s Infowars show that the coronavirus was created by billionaires [[George Soros]] and Bill Gates, as well as Klaus Schwab, the head of the World Economic Forum ([2](https://www.businessinsider.com/michael-flynn-launches-4thepure-online-website-covid-19-unvaccinated-people-2023-5)). In 2023, Flynn launched an online community called 4ThePURE, dedicated to people who have not been vaccinated for COVID-19. The community allows members to connect with blood donors, sperm donors, breastmilk donors, surrogates, and unvaccinated singles. The site also has a directory of "COVID-19 unvaccinated patriot businesses". The full member site was scheduled to launch in June 2023, with a lifetime founding membership costing $2,500.
